My Week At Camp

Dirty feet. Full heart. Camp life.
Happy Monday friends! I just got back home from a week away at camp. I was a councilor at Sunnyside Christian Retreat Center's junior high camp! So I just wanted to share my week with you guys!
This was my first time counciling. My first time going to youth camp actually (I never actually went when I was a youth). It was nerve racking. Being in charge of a cabin of girls, wondering if they would like me, trying to help them connect with God and have fun AND trying not to compare myself to the other councilors. You all know from my last blog post how bad and addicting comparison can be! So I was nervous. But God showed up.
My days went something like this.
Morning: Time with Jesus/trying to win cabin clean up with our amazing themes
Afternoon: EGGS GAMES (all I do is win win win no matter what, my team won btw! #pinksanatomy)
Evening: Jesus
Freetime: Cards, spoons, cards, lots of laughs and more cards

My cabin may not have been loud or crazy athletic like some other cabins but it was special! It was perfect for my cabin. God knew what he was doing when He put us all together. He always does. All the girls and councilors in my room bonded in a way so special to us. We would play cards, laugh for hours, tell stories, play truth or dare and talk about God. My cabin witnessed 2 physical healings (can I get an AMEN) and we also had 2 girls get baptized (can I get another AMEN). So like I said earlier, God showed UP!
This week did stretch me. It challenged me to go out of my comfort zone and trust that God was gonna be there when I did stretch myself. Even signing up to be a councillor was a huge stretch for me but I am so happy I listened to the people around me that encouraged me to do it. It was amazing! Comparison did creep up to me but I did not let it consume me! So that's a victory for me! I know my girls made great friendships and I did too. It was just such an amazing week surrounded by Gods presence and children of God seeking Him.

Sunnyside is and will always be my favourite place on this earth. As soon as you walk onto the property you feel God. I have yet to experience a place SO connected and in tune with God as Sunnyside is. It is truly amazing and the atmosphere is just dripping in the Holy Spirit. I have so many childhood memories from there, friendships that withstand time and distance and amazing and intimate moments with God. Now I have some more memories to add to my feelings for Sunnyside. I cannot wait for what God has in store for me and the campers next year. Enjoy your week friends and go check out Sunnyside if you've never been!
XOXO
